Wasting Away A First Time in Margaritaville Glendale
After considerable negotiations, Saturday marked my first trip to Glendale’s new Margaritaville Restaurant at the Westgate City Center. It certainly will not be my last if only for the atmosphere. Oh, and the rum.
Part of my disappointment in Arizona State getting snubbed by the Fiesta Bowl (thanks a lot, John Junker) was it ruined my plans to camp in Margaritaville most of the day and stumble to University of Phoenix Stadium to watch the Sun Devils take on the Sooners of Oklahoma. Instead, I’ll camp out and decide whether to get a ticket at or just after kickoff on the cheap from a scalper.
Not that any of that has anything to do with Margaritaville which, in my 8-year-old Parrothead’s eyes, lived up to everything I told her. There’s no volcano, sadly … each is a little different so we’ll have to go Las Vegas or Orlando to see the volcano.
The coolest feature had to be the map on the ceiling. With apologies to my friends on the artistically-rendered former west coast, I kinda dig oceanfront property.
Other restaurants and bars are opening in Westgate so this may not be the place to be for the Fiesta Bowl and Super Bowl, but Margaritaville has to be in the top couple of choices.
