Hearing a Blog’s Voice

Phoenix real estate

Jonathan Dalton, Phoenix Real Estate AgentIt can’t just be me, can it?

Read this post … and then read this post … both on the same topic, the impact the wildfires in Southern California will have on the market in San Diego.

Am I the only one who sees/hears/feels the difference?

  1. Of course blogs have a voice… But you can’t really expect someone on their seventh post to be ready to go up against Kris? I’ve been blogging about real estate for two and a half years and I still wouldn’t want to take on Kris topic for topic! :)

  2. True, Dustin … it wasn’t a very fair comparison. I think what got me going was the last sentence which is along the same lines of what I’ve seen on a hundred different blogs … none that I’ve read much longer.

But I’m sure you can get folks on the right track, with all sincerity.

  3. Jonathan… I have no desire to “get folks on the right track.” Everyone has their own style and, or course, some of those styles will resonate better with consumers.

  4. Fair enough, sir.

  5. I think any blogger can learn something from Kris. Her style certainly makes you feel like you are actually having a conversation with her — and a conversation with an experienced real estate agent at that.

  6. Thanks Jonathan and, of course, Dustin and Paul. I am hoping with all of my archive that no one happens upon my first few posts. And for all that is good and decent in the world, if you do venture there, DON’T comment on my hairstyle! I always cut newer bloggers slack, since I remember all too well the early days of trying to think of something to say so I could blog, versus now where I blog because I have something to say. It may not always be well-received or even well written, but it is always from the heart. Not so much where posts 1 through 50 were concerned, I am afraid. Give her credit for trying.

  7. Intriguing topic. All blogs have their own voice & personalities, just as all Realtors you meet in person do. And while some people are going to gravitate to one person’s style over another’s, this does bring us a great reminder for our own blogs -

Don’t rush a post. Finish your thought. Say what you mean to say. Research. Proofread.

Quality counts (and is reflected as part of our blog’s personality!) You wouldn’t go to a ballroom dinner wearing shorts & flip-flops; don’t let your blog make that mistake for you either.
