Scottsdale Economist Answers The Economist
Posted on August 24th, 2007 by Jonathan Dalton
If you happen to read Housing Panic, you probably saw the post where The Economist explained why Phoenix is going to hell in a hand basket.
(And then everyone else jumped in - mostly anonymously - including several people who for their own sakes ought to have For Sale signs in their yard so they can live someplace they’ll be happy, assuming such a place exists.)
As John Wake noted on his Arizona Real Estate Notebook, local economist Elliot Pollack answered back. And since the population has been growing steadily for the past 30 years, maybe there’s something to the response.
I’ve always been amazed by the ranting dialogue on Housing Panic, which has proven to be less a real estate blog than the epicenter of schaudenfrude in the blogging world. Seriously, if you hate life in Arizona so much, feel free to try any of the 49 states conveniently located to the north, south and west. Or even another country.
No one’s keeping you here. So step up and leave or take steps to make the place better.
